FAQ

Questions couples ask

What does a wedding dog attendant do?

A wedding dog attendant takes full responsibility for your dog on your wedding day. That means picking your dog up, bringing them to the venue, handling them for photos and the ceremony, giving water and potty breaks, keeping them calm between moments, and getting them safely home. You and your guests get to enjoy the day instead of holding a leash.

How much does a wedding dog attendant cost in New Brunswick?

Dog of Honour packages start at $425 for up to 2 hours on site, $675 for up to 4 hours, and $950 for up to 6 hours. Each covers one dog, one handler, a pre-wedding meet, and pickup and drop-off inside the Fredericton-area local zone. Travel further out is quoted before you book.

Which areas do you serve?

I am based in the Fredericton area. Pickup and travel are included for Fredericton, Oromocto, New Maryland, Hanwell, Lincoln, Douglas, Keswick Ridge and Harvey. Venues elsewhere in New Brunswick, such as the Saint John River Valley, Saint John, St. Andrews, Sussex or Moncton, get a travel quote up front.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as your date and venue are set. I take one wedding per day, so a date can only go to one couple. Asking about your date costs nothing and does not commit you to anything.

Is every dog suited to a wedding?

No, and I will tell you honestly. Before booking I meet your dog and ask how they handle strangers, noise, other dogs and car rides. Some dogs love the whole day. Some just need a few wedding prep training sessions first. Some are happiest with a short photo session and then home. Some are better off staying home entirely, and I will say so.

What if our dog gets stressed on the day?

Your dog's welfare comes before the photo schedule. I plan a quiet retreat spot at every venue and take breaks before your dog needs them. If your dog is clearly overwhelmed, I shorten their part of the day and take them home. I never force a dog down an aisle or into a pose.

Does our venue need to allow dogs?

Yes. Many venues welcome dogs for photos and outdoor ceremonies, but rules vary. I confirm the venue's pet policy with you before your date is booked, and coordinate with the venue on where your dog can be.

Do you take dogs to the reception?

Usually not. Receptions are loud, late and full of food and dancing, which is hard on most dogs. The packages are built around photos and the ceremony, with your dog home and resting before the party starts.

Can you handle more than one dog?

Sometimes. A second dog is added only after I meet both and agree one handler can keep them both safe. If not, I will tell you rather than take the risk.

Do you look after cats at weddings too?

Yes. Cats are less often at the ceremony, but a calm cat can join a portrait session at home or a quiet venue, and I handle the carrier, transport and a safe return. Tell me about your cat in the inquiry form and I will be honest about what will suit them.

How do we book?

Send your date and venue through the inquiry form. I reply personally to confirm whether the date is open, set up a planning call and a meet with your dog, then send a written agreement. Your date is only reserved once the agreement is signed and the retainer is paid.
