About

Hi, I'm Lesli. Dogs are what I know.

I have been in the pet business for 40 years. It started with breeding pet rats for my university friends, and it never stopped.

For the last 30 years, dogs have been the centre of it. I have been a responsible dog breeder for three decades, a dog trainer, and I have owned a national pedigree registry since 2005.

That means I have spent a long time reading dogs: the ones who love a crowd, the ones who need a quiet corner, and the ones who are telling you they have had enough long before anyone else notices. I also work as a pet transporter, so moving dogs safely by car, which is half of a wedding day, is everyday work for me.

Closer to home, I run Fredericton Pet Sitter, an in-home pet sitting business. Day-to-day pet care and pet safety, for dogs and cats, is what I do every week in Fredericton.

Where dogs have taken me

  • Judged dog shows in Moscow, Rome and Cologne
  • Hosted dog shows in Canada and the United States
  • Two months caring for a Belgian Malinois on a beach in Thailand
  • Six weeks caring for two dogs and a cat on an orchid plantation in Costa Rica
  • A month caring for three Border Collies in Brisbane, Australia
  • Working pet transporter, moving dogs safely by road

The live-in sits were arranged through TrustedHousesitters, where owners hand over their home and their animals for weeks at a time.

A show ring is loud, crowded and full of strangers reaching for a dog. So is a wedding. Keeping a dog calm and safe through that is the job I have been doing for decades.

Why Dog of Honour

Couples want their dog in the photos and at the ceremony, and then reality hits: someone has to drive the dog there, hold the leash, find water, deal with the zoomies, and get the dog home before the reception. That job usually lands on a bridesmaid or a parent, who then misses half the day.

Dog of Honour exists so that job goes to someone who does it on purpose. I am Fredericton-based, I take one wedding per day, and you deal with me directly from the first email to the text that says your dog is home.

What I promise

  • An honest answer about whether a wedding suits your dog
  • Your dog's welfare ahead of the photo schedule
  • Clear prices, with travel quoted before you book
  • One wedding per day, so your dog has my full attention

I am new to offering this as a dedicated service, starting with the 2027 season. You will not find a wall of past weddings here yet. You will find a straight answer to every question you ask.
